Passengers with a handicap
As a wheelchair user, you won't feel that you have been sidelined. You are welcome onboard. We'd like to make your travel preparations as pleasant as possible for you. So sit back, and relax. Below, you'll find all the information you need for a pleasant and stress-free trip.
Take your time for an unforgetable trip with the Glacier Express and you will be mobile. The Shuttle-Trains between Täsch and Zermatt, as well as the trains from Visp to Täsch and Zermatt offer this trip also for disabled persons.
Well worth knowing: Our attentive train personnel will be pleased to assist you board the train. Please simply wait on the platform beside the mobile lift 10 minutes before the train's departure time.

Tickets: Travellers with a disability are required to show an identification card (accompanying person's card for Swiss citizens). Persons resident in Switzerland who are dependent on an accompanying person are entitled to free travel for the assisting person and/or a guide dog for the blind. A single ticket will be sufficient for all. Important: The accompanying person must be able to assist you during the entirety of the journey. Disabled and accompanying persons who are not resident in Switzerland are not eligible for a discount.
Further important information: Maximum dimensions and weights exist for the transportation of wheelchairs: width 70 cm, length 120 cm, weight 250 kg (weight capacity of mobile lifts. Boarding and disembarkation assistance for larger and/or heavier wheelchairs is generally not possible). All wheelchairs must be reported to the Call Center Handicap.
Passengers with a dog

Dogs of any size travelling in passenger carriages or luggage vans must always pay second-class half fare or the stipulated minimum fare (1-day travelpass for dogs, GA travelcard for dogs) if there is one. Exception: small dogs up to 30 cm high at the top of their shoulder blades can travel with you free of charge as carriage hand luggage provided they are in a carrier, basket or other suitable container.
Since the “dining at your seat” service is offered in all cars of the Glacier Express, animals cannot accompany you on the train.
Dogs are free of charge on the Gornergrat Bahn.
