Bike & Rail

Bikes and railways are like twins: inseparable. Bikers can easily reach a biking paradise with the railway. Whether you’re climbing or descending, on single tracks or flat bike paths for the family – offers something for everyone.

Self-service loading of bicycles

With a valid bike ticket, you can transport your bicycle on all Matterhorn Gotthard regional railway trains. Please make sure that you are able to carry your bike or e-bike onto the train and, if necessary, hang it up without assistance.

If you are travelling with a group of more than 10 people and bicycles, it is not possible to load the bicycles yourselves. We recommend that you hire them or send them as luggage.

Limited capacity

Depending on the type of vehicle, our trains have room for 10-12 bicycles. Please note that carriage capacity for bikes may be limited on certain connections when demand is high – usually when the weather is nice – and the carriage of bikes is not guaranteed.

On the train

On the train doors, a bicycle pictogram shows you where to find bicycle hooks or platforms for securely stowing bicycles. Please use the mounting fixtures on the train and make sure your bicycle does not block the path of other passengers. You are responsible for your own bicycle during the journey. For safety reasons, walkways, entrances and exits must be kept clear at all times. Please follow the instructions given to you by the train crew. They may impose restrictions on taking bicycles for safety reasons.

Please factor in enough time for boarding and changing to another service.
