Information about the coronavirus

On 16 March 2020, the Federal Council declared an "extraordinary situation" in Switzerland.  In the current situation, the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway is working closely with SBB, who is the system leader for the development of protective measures. Together with the FOT (Federal Office of Transport) and in close cooperation with PostBus, the system leader SBB has decided to reduce services in an orderly, gradual and forward-looking manner. From Thursday, 19 March 2020, there will be a gradual reduction in the timetable for regional traffic on the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway.

We expect from our customers to respect the recommendations of the FOPH. Avoid travelling by public transport as far as possible. If you need to travel, please respect the following rules.

    • Please check your connection on the online timetable immediately before starting your journey. The timetable will be continuously updated.
    • Purchase your ticket online
    • Maintain distance from other people when waiting at stations or stops and on public transport, as far as possible.
    • Please observe the FOPH’s behaviour and hygiene recommendations

The Federal Office of Public Health recommends that passengers on public transport should also keep as far away from other people as possible. Against the background of the required reduction of the timetable services, we would ask our guests to make sure that the recommendation is observed.

Before your journey, consult the timetable on sbb.ch or in the SBB App.

further information about the opening hours

We continue to monitor the development of the situation and are ready to make any alterations that are deemed necessary.  We are also in close contact with the SBB (National Railway) who are the system leaders for all public rail transport.

In addition, the guidelines of the Federal Office of Public Health campaign "How we protect ourselves" are crucial for us:

- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or an alcohol-impregnated hand-rub.
- Sneeze or cough into a fresh tissue or the crook of your arm.  After use, paper tissues must be disposed of in a closed rubbish container.
- Should you have a high temperature or a cough you must stay at home.  Only visit a doctor or the emergency department at a hospital after first telephoning them.
- Avoid shaking hands with other people.
- Keep your distance from other people.
