Belalp-Riederalp bridge round trip ticket
10. June - 22. October 2017
Suspension bridge Belalp-Riederalp
Belalp-Riederalp suspension footbridge is one of the Aletsch Arena highlights for walkers. The 124 m-long bridge is 80 m up in the air, and runs across the Massa Gorge right at the mouth of the Great Aletsch Glacier. Crossing the bridge is an experience to remember, and one that will get the adrenaline pumping.
Belalp – Suspension Bridge – Riederalp
Starting from the Hotel Belalp, the trail leads down a steep track to the Aletschji mountain pastures and from there via the “Leng Acker” to the old glacier approach and the Belalp-Riederalp suspension bridge, the highlight of the hike. As you cross the bridge, enjoy the impressive view of the glacier snout and the Massa Gorge to the full before taking on the ascent to Riederfurka through the protected Aletsch Forest with its ancient pines. Besides the magnificent view of the Great Aletsch Glacier that follows you throughout the hike, this section through the Aletsch Forest provides another impressive natural experience. From the Grünsee lake there are two beautiful ways to make your way up to the Silbersand: one leads through the shady “Teife Wald” forest, the other through the “Tal des Todes” (valley of death), which can be very hot in sunny weather. The hike continues from the Silbersand on a gentle upward slope through the Aletsch Forest to Riederfurka.
The Belalp-Riederalp bridge round trip ticket allows you to integrate this highlight into a wonderful 5-hour or so walk. Tickets for the valley connection cable cars and train connections from and to Brig are included in the combi ticket.
