Enjoy this trip par excellence. During your return journey from Visp to Disentis, enjoy an 8-course gourmet menu prepared by a star chef (tba). The menu is accompanied by the finest of wines by the Cave du Rhodan winery based in Salgesch. In Disentis there will be an hour-long break where you can enjoy a concert.

Mario Inderschmitten (32) was born and raised in the little village of Binn, population 140, in the canton of Wallis a few kilometres from the Italian border.  His parents ran a guest house – the Pension Albrun – one of five restaurants in the village.  Inderschmitten is continuing his family’s tradition. In 2013 he took over his parents’ guest house.  He is at home in the Binn Valley; it was here that he first started peeking into the cooking pots and awoke a passion for cooking. 

After being an apprentice in the Restaurant Schlosskeller in Brig the heavy-metal fan completed a second apprenticeship as confectioner and pastry chef in the Spitalzentrum Oberwallis.  He was a member of the Kochkunstequipe Rhoneköche (The Rhone Chefs Culinary-Arts Team)  for several years as well as belonging to the Swiss National Cookery Team.  After a short detour to Ascona he found his way back to his place of birth: in 2013 he and his wife took over the running of the restaurant in the Binn Valley. 

A supplier nominated him with Gault & Millau and he was promptly awarded 14 Gault & Millau points two years ago.  Last year he added a further point and received a ‘Bib Gourmand’ from Michelin.

Impressions 2017

The guests were spoiled by star chef Dietmar Sawyere (The Chedi Andermatt). The winery "Domaines Chevaliers" served selected wines for the gourmet menu and in Disentis URSINA, the Swiss singer-songwriter, enchanted with her voice.
